RULE: When you see this, post a quote from Doctor Who on your LJ.

Cyber Leader: Daleks, be warned. You have declared war upon the Cybermen.
Dalek Sec: This is not war. This is pest control!
Cyber Leader: We have five million Cybermen. How many are you?
Dalek Sec: Four.
Cyber Leader: You would destroy the Cybermen with four Daleks?
Dalek Sec: We would destroy the Cybermen with one Dalek! You are superior in only one respect.
Cyber Leader: What is that?
Dalek Sec: You are better at dying.

Carol's Questions )

Most of my friends seem to be having trouble with their schedules or overloaded with work and I feel weird about having a wonderful schedule, with 5 teachers and classes I love already, and little to no work assigned yet. There's a programming group assignment due next Friday, a Psych project due the 17th, a calc test on review stuff and an in-class essay on Kite Runner on Wednesday, but otherwise my only homework so far is some Physics problems. Morgenbesser and McCarthy are awesome, Tobin seems wonderful so far, Camelio seems nice enough and I like Duranceau as well. I mean how can you not like a teacher who, on the first day of school, invites the class over to his house for pizza Monday evening? I don't know what to think about White/Flynn yet, but people who had her in Sophomore year didn't like her. I also seem to have lunch with a bunch of people. Plus all of the depleted Caf Crew has been hanging out after school with what could be a few froshie recruits. And they haven't worked out directed studies yet, so my study today was in the cafeteria with Pam, Carol, Alice, Heather and Pete. Pam and Carol sang the duck-billed platypus song loudly 5 or 6 times throughout the period.

My sleep schedule hasn't reverted back to school timing yet, so even if I go to bed by 10, I can't fall asleep until 1 or after. Means I've only gotten five or six hours of sleep the last two nights, but whatever. I've never had as many teachers and classes I like before and with at least one or two people I enjoy talking to/working with in each of them. This year seems like it will be amazing. I'm not sure how my clubs will work out, though, seeing as I'm head of math team and secretary/vice-president of SAVE Club so should try to go to every meeting of both of those and am also a member of National Honor Society. The three of those will probably overlap in annoying ways, not to mention the Whose Line Improv club meetings.

And now to go to bed and catch up on lost sleep. If anyone's going to town day, stop by the SAVE club booth and say hi. I think I'm supposed to be manning it for much of the day.

Give me presents? )

Why am I still awake you ask? Because I spent all of today (minus the hour I babysat for my neighbors) rereading a novel length fanfic and only just finished it. And obviously I stayed up until 2 am last night reading it too. That was stupid, now wasn't it? *wanders off to procrastinate homework for as long as possible*

Just cause I have nothing better to do and some random person had a link to it... I only had history homework tonight, although I have a socratic seminar tomorrow and also a Chemistry quiz, but whatever. Bugging the guidance secretary gave me my schedule in all of two minutes, so I've dropped spanish and am now in Fundamentals of Computer Programming, which is an awesome class. So my schedule has worked out, I had basically no homework tonight and I had both computer programming and survival today. All in all, I've had a good day; plus tomorrow's friday. So here's to fooling around with html and css to try to form a decent webpage. Oh and research into some invention, but the whole project isn't due until Monday, and I could get extra time, seeing as the rest of the class has had a week longer to work on it.

Meme 1:
The problem with LJ: We all think we are so close, but really we know nothing about each other. So I want you to ask me something you think you should know about me. Something that should be obvious (or not so obvious), but you have no idea about. Ask away.

Then post this in your LJ and find out what people don't know about you.

Meme 2:
Reply to this post, and I'll tell you *at least* one reason why I like you. Then put this in your own journal, and spread the love.

Ground Rules: The first player of this "game" starts with the topic "5 Guilty Pleasures" and people who get tagged need to write an LJ entry about their 5 Guilty Pleasures as well as state this rule clearly. In the end, you need to choose the next 5 people to be tagged and list their names.

1. LOST and QaF
2. Chocolate
3. Real Person Slash and slashing works of literature or just yaoi in general
4. Laziness and procrastination
5. Lying about little things every once in a while

I tag my dearest brother, Elisabeth, Jess, Rachel and Giulia.

Karkaroff has a bigger stick than Lucius.

Um... Right. I haven't been looking at GoF pictures and seeing Karkaroff holding a huge stick and making that dirty, of course not.

In english today as we were going over phrases and clauses, for some reason whenever Davies would say comma, which she obviously said like 20 times, I'd think of the quote from shoebox "I do believe in commas, I do, I do." So now my grammar worksheets are covered in that. XD

THE RULES: List five songs that you are currently loving. It doesn't matter what genre they are from, whether they have words, or even if they're any good, but they must be songs you're really enjoying right now.
Post these instructions, the artists, and the songs in your blog. Then tag six other friends to see what they're listening to.

1. At the End of the Day - Les Miz
2. Name - Goo Goo Dolls
3. All The Things She Said - tATu
4. Falling - Kate Rusby
5. Will I? - Rent

Not tagging anyone for the same reason everyone else has given.

And now to write my outline for english... Fun fun fun.

Reasons gay marriage is wrong )

Way too much homework tonight. Lab for science due tomorrow, history test tomorrow, english vocabulary exercises and notes on a tale of two cities, spanish translation of a paragraph. And the only reason I don't have math is because I finished it during school. I shouldn't be updating this right now, but I'm stupid. *dies from homework*

Katherine, you are somewhat left-hemisphere dominant with a balanced preference for auditory and visual inputs. Because of your "centrist" tendencies, the distinctions between various types of brain usage are somewhat blurred.

Your tendency to be organized and logical and attend to details is reasonably well-established which should afford you success regardless of your chosen field of endeavor, unless it requires total spontaneity and ability to improvise, your weaker traits. However, you are far from rigid or overcontrolled. You possess a degree of individuality, perceptiveness, and trust in your intuition to function at much more sophisticated levels than most.

Having given sufficient attention to detail, you can readily perceive the larger aspects and implications of a situation or of learning. You are functional and practical, but can blend abstraction and theory into your framework readily.

The equivalence of your auditory and visual learning orientation gives you two equally effective sensory input systems, each with distinctive features. You can process both unidimensionally and multidimen- sionally with equal facility. When needed, you sequence material while at other times you "intake it all" and store it for processing later.

Your natural ability to use your senses is also synthesized in your way of learning. You can be reflective in your approach, absorbing material in a non-aggressive manner, and at other times voracious in seeking out stimulation and experience.

Overall you tend to be somewhat more critical of yourself than is necessary and avoid enjoying life too much because of a sense of duty. You feel somewhat constrained and tend to sometimes restrict your expressiveness. In any given situation, you will opt for the rational, and learning of almost any type should be easy for you. You might need certain ideas explained to you in order to fit them into your scheme of things, but you're at least open to that!

That's surprisingly accurate...

Stolen from Cecille and Rebecca )

This weekend was lots of fun. I just got back from Pam's house in New Hampshire where we swam and kayaked and sang and watched movies and hiked Mt. Monadnock. Emily is now the gangsta Dudders the Potions Master. While the rest of us are her students. I'm a trucker, Pam's a slut, Katy's a goth and Elisabeth is a jock. The image of that just amuses me. We watched Man of La Mancha and Princess Mononoke. And we sang the national anthem out in the middle of the pond watching fireworks last night. And Emily and Elisabeth changed a phantom song to fit Bobby and Ms. Bodie. Pam sprained her thumb when we were climbing up Monadnock, but everything else was just hunkeydory.

12 more days until HBP comes out, not that anyone cares. My mom's preordered it, so if anyone wants to read it after my family has and Elisabeth has, I'm willing to lend it to you.

~ Scan my interest list and pick out the one that seems the most odd to you.
~ I'll explain it.
~ Then you post this in your journal so other people can ask you about your interests.
meorae: (Default)

Make a post (public, friends-locked, filtered, whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simply and fandom related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me.") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.
If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you inculde some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.
Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelnes in your LJ, or link to this post (it'll be public) so that the Holiday Joy will be spread.

Surf around your friends-list (or friends friends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:
If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you ahve a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use -- or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free -- do it.
You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf -- to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not -- it's your call.
There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just... wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might recieve. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

All I want for Christmas )

I got an Evanescence CD, the PoA soundtrack and DvD, a digital camera, and the 70's version of Romeo and Juliet for my birthday last night. A few days ago when I was getting Katy a birthday present at Barnes and Noble, my mom also paid for 10 or so books that I've wanted, so all in all, I had a pretty good birthday.

There's been way too many tests and projects and crap assigned in the past week and a half. I have had five tests and three quizzes in the past week, I have a spanish quiz next week, an in-class essay in English this Friday, an English project due next tuesday, a history test next week, and a history essay due next week.
