Nov. 10th, 2006 11:33 pmHenry Jenkins is amazing. Just saying that because of the title of this essay: Normal Female Interest in Men Bonking. And just how he writes academically about fanfiction and slash. I really want to read Textual Poachers now, or actually any of his other books.
So who has ever wanted to play a game of Go Fish with leaves? Well after school today, someone (maybe Alex? maybe Jule?) asked if anyone had a deck of cards, and when we all said no, it was mentioned that we were surrounded by leaves, and if anyone had a pen, we could make our own deck of cards. So Alex used my pen to draw on 54 leaves and make a complete deck of cards, including jokers. Jule, Alex and I played a round of Go Fish with them, which ended with Jule and I tying, each with five complete sets of four leaves. My friends are so weird and I love them for it. Except maybe I'm more weird seeing as I have the deck of leaves in a plastic bag on my desk right now...
I went to see the play with my parents tonight. And there was some forgetting of lines and whatnot, but I liked it. And I'm glad I went to see it rather than just staying at home doing nothing.
A little while ago, my mom mentioned to her sister that I like Hugh Jackman, and so my aunt lent me two of his older movies, Paperback Hero and Kate & Leopold. My mom and I watched Paperback Hero last night, which was interesting. I can generally understand people if they have accents, but some of the people in Paperback Hero just had heavy Australian accents, which I couldn't understand when they were speaking quickly.
And then after that, my dad went on about colleges and how I should start thinking about college as the best time for college visits is when they're in session and other crap like that. And my dad seems convinced that I should think about prestigious schools because he believes I'd fit in at Harvard or MIT. Good to know that he has high expectations of me... I'm worried about my 10 page papers right now, not colleges. And I understand the fact that he feels the college search process was rushed for my brother, but it's only November of my junior year, and I could care less about colleges.
But it's the weekend. And I don't have any homework, except for long term stuff, so all is good.
