Kfoury should die. And so should Chebator. And so should this hot weather. And so should the fire alarms. I had three fire drills today. I missed five minutes of science, ten minutes of directed study, and twenty minutes of spanish. At least I missed spanish, but then we spent the rest of the period with her calling us up by pairs and looking through the four packets of each of us (30 students) that she forced us to do. She made the rest of us sit there doing nothing while she checked our homework and that's all we did in spanish today. It was boring as hell and purposeless. If she wants to check that we all did it, she can collect it, but no, she doesn't like collecting our homework, she has to check it as much as she would at home, like all our other teachers don't mind doing, in class. *headdesk*

Then in history, after spending half the class talking about electives for junior year, we spent the remainder of class supposedly working on our portfolio things. I asked him if we could use a magazine article for the reference to one of the topics we covered in class this year, but he said that he'd like to keep it newspaper articles. Does he have some obsession with black and white as well as notecards? My family mainly gets magazines. We get the arlington advocate and the new york times once a week, too. But then we get like four other magazines, each talking about current events as much as the newspapers do. Why the hell can't we use magazines? I understand him not wanting us to use the internet or something, but what's wrong with magazines?

Ok. Now that that's out of my system, sortof, maybe. There's something I've been wondering about for a while. So, gay slurs. In past years, whenever I heard them, it was generally from the people in my classes saying that's so gay, or whatever. Depending on the person, I would feel perfectly fine telling them that I found that offensive. Even then, I just ignored it when someone like Danny Styfe or Randy used them. This year, as I'm in all honors, I don't hear them from fellow classmates. Whenever I do hear gay slurs it's in the hallways or waiting for the bell to ring after gym or whatever. Generally it's from upperclassmen or people I don't know. I ignore it and pretend I didn't hear them. I keep thinking whenever I do just ignore the slurs that I'm a wonderful member of the GSA. What should I do, and what do all of you guys do when you hear them?
