I'll be in Western MA for the weekend - retouring Amherst and Williams (I saw them with my brother 2? 3? years ago, but don't remember them) and touring Smith as well.
I never replied to you... I found Williams to be too rural and isolated. Plus everyone I interacted with seemed to take school pride too far to the side of snobbery/"we're better than everyone else" for me. And although there's 2000 students, which is more than Amherst/Bowdoin/Colby, the campus just felt small. Nothing really stood out about Williams, except that it just didn't feel right at all for me.
I liked Amherst though. Its student population and size felt right as did the town of Amherst and its proximity to the other colleges in the five college consortium. I also remembered it being hilly, but I didn't notice it this time.
