Fucking hell... Rejected from Bowdoin as well. I was able to accept and relatively quickly move on from the other rejections because I didn't really expect to get into MIT, and I had an acceptance to go with the rejection from Amherst yesterday. But this, this one hurts.
And I'm going to stop this post right here, because dwelling on it will just make me depressed and irrational. It doesn't mean anything about me as a person. And if I keep telling myself that, I might begin to believe it...

Date: 2008-03-29 09:28 pm (UTC)..And dude, the hell're you talking about, it reflects on you as a person?! If the shit that colleges look at- such as, say, your grades- reflect anything about you as a person, then I suck at maths, science, and most of my other subjects. And we all _know_ that's not true on account of how I'm such a genius. >:D Whatever stupid colleges are rejecting us are doing it because the little page-long lists we gave them about our lives aren't as interesting as someone else's little lists. Fuck that shit, man- my life is way more interesting than most other people's. (Though I think I might have listed the Platypus on one of my lists, so perhaps they'll learn to appreciate my life too. Ah, how I hope to spread my awesome to the rest of the world thus.) And you got into Northeastern, right? We can go there and be roomies and have parties and it'll be excellent. Though I have to warn you, I'm a big fan of pranking people in their sleep.

Date: 2008-03-30 04:16 am (UTC)College decisions really do hurt. It can really feel like it reflects on you but seriously--3 people that I know of who graduated with me with worse grades and fewer extracurriculars got into Tufts, and I didn't. There's a point where it just isn't about qualifications anymore and seriously just is random. It's just a matter of shit luck. Most of the people I know at Northeastern (well, at least, in the honors program) ended up going there because they were rejected at their top choice schools, and seriously, they're all so, so smart and motivated and dynamic. Where you get into says nothing about you, in the long run.
And if it makes you feel better, I'm really surprised you didn't get into Bowdoin. I think you're perfectly qualified.
